Great Expectations

ABOUT ME

David Mynne: 'Veteran Cornish actor' and a founder member of the internationally acclaimed Kneehigh Theatre.

Born 1949. Years past and then Kneehigh happened. I was there from the very beginning: "Do you want to be in a play?" "Yeah, ok!" (it was that simple back then!) and I worked with the company, over the years, as actor, maker and graphic designer.

2016 saw my final Kneehigh performance, as Grandaddy Jake in FUP (from the novel by Jim Dodge; adapted and directed by Simon Harvey). I reprised my role as Jake, when FUP was remounted in 2023, with a highly successful run at the Minack.

I'd always wanted to perform a solo show, so in 2013, together with director Simon Harvey we developed a style of story-telling that is exciting and accessible.

Our first collaboration, Charles Dickens’ ‘Great Expectations’, met with great success and so further titles followed: Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’; Homer’s ‘The Odyssey’; another Charles Dickens classic, ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘The Canterbury Tales’. You can read about all of the shows here  here

We are currently working on a brand new, original show: WIDDERSHINS.
